2 Rivers Pty Ltd and Arts North West have opened Expressions of Interest from Aboriginal Yinaar from the Arts North West Footprint who demonstrate excellence, innovation and professional practice in the arts for paid artist positions for the Yinaar Project.
“Yinaar” is a creative exploration of Aboriginal Women’s traditional practices from the New England North West.
Artists will be selected by a Panel that includes the curators, 2 Rivers and Arts North West representatives and an independent.
Selected artists will be required to
1. Creative response to the topics as detailed at the knowledge sharing day around Gali, Food and Medicine, Kinship and Responsibility, Language and Healing
2. Participate in 2 residencies:
1. 24th to 26th May 2021 – Knowledge Sharing Residency - Art Shack, Wallabadah
2. 5th to 7th July 2021 – Art Making Residency – Trelawney Station, Somerton
3. Attend exhibition openings and undertake artist talks.
4. Participate in mentoring (face to face or online) with the curators and project team.
5. Produce a number of works to be determined in co-design with the curators.
6. Undertake media.
7. Document the creation of new works.
8. Demonstrate how they live and work on country within the project footprint.
There will be at least 4 exhibitions:
1. Bank Art Museum Moree - October & November 2021
2. Dhiiyaan Centre Moree – October & November 2021
3. Tamworth Regional Gallery – July 2022
4. Armidale Culture Centre and Keeping Place – February & March 2022
